The Belmont Hotel and Fair Park are the perfect combination for a quick holiday away from the norm. Although perhaps best known as the grounds of the annual Texas State Fair, Fair Park has something for everyone during every season!

Did you know?

  • Fair Park's use as working fairgrounds can be traced back to 1886.
  • In 1936 Dallas hosted a world's fair, The Texas Centennial Exposition, at Fair Park and in preparation the grounds were not only renovated but greatly expanded bringing it into the 277 acres you can experience today.
  • Fair Park is the only pre-1950s world fair site in the U.S. that still remains in the same condition as it existed when originally unveiled, with no major structural changes or degradation.
  • The grounds, especially the picturesque Esplanade, display one of the most notable collections of Art Deco art and architecture collectively on display in the United States.
  • The park not only hosts the fair each fall, but it is also the permanent home to numerous cultural, educational, and sports facilities which are accessible year round to the public.
Fair Park Entertainment:
Are you a fan of rock and roll, or are you more partial to classical concertos? No matter what style of music you prefer, Fair Park's venues play host to the whole spectrum. Check them out below. Then once you've snagged your tickets, plan to make it a weekend for R&R - rock and relaxation that is - with our Rock Star Package. See our reservations page for more information. Brain Food at Fair Park:

Scattered throughout Fair Park are Museums that suit many interests. We at the Belmont have to admit that the TI Founders IMAX Theater at the Science Place is perhaps our favorite, though. Visually explore earth's landscapes or perhaps get a look at the inside of an Indy Series racecar on a screen unlike any other! When your film is over, take the time to walk around the beautiful fair grounds and take in what the other museums have to offer as well.

Summers at Fair Park:

For the first time, Summer Place Park opens the fair's midway for everyone to enjoy, as the name hints, all summer long! Games and concessions, rides and the new 500 foot tall Texas Centennial Tower are all part of the attractions. Best of all, the Texas Star ferris wheel and the Texas Skyway tram will be included in the experience, too!

Fourth of July:

Fair Park has always boasted a top-notch fireworks show for the 4th of July. If you can't make it to this spectacular display, you can always see if from our hotel. Every year, because of our unique, hill-top position, the Belmont Hotel provides spectacular views of the city's fireworks displays. So bring a blanket and kick back poolside to watch the explosions in the sky.

The State Fair of Texas:

Yet another reason for you to vacation in the Big D. The State Fair of Texas at Fair Park makes the fall our favourite season in Dallas! Fried foods, artisans, pig races, dancing dogs and hundreds of rides are just a few of the reasons to make your way to the State Fair of Texas. This year, the fair begins September 24 and ends October 17. It's the perfect excuse to plan a fall getaway.

Texas OU weekend

One of the greatest rivalries in college football takes place on October 2, 2010. The Red River Shootout pits the University of Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners at Fair Park's Cotton Bowl Stadium. This will be one of the last years that this big event is held at the Cotton Bowl, so mark your calendars now!

Score a touchdown of your own by making the Belmont Hotel your headquarters for the Texas / OU Weekend. With our premier location, lively BarBelmont and popular SMOKE restaurant, we'll make sure you're having a good time both before and after the game.
